What is a Chandi Path anushthan?

Chandi Path is the recitation of the Durga Saptashati (Devi Mahatmya). A single recitation is what most families book as a Durga Saptashati Path. A Chandi anushthan is the same scripture recited many times over by a team of pandits, with a havan proportionate to the count — undertaken for serious, long-standing difficulties or for a major family sankalp.

Scales we arrange

AnushthanRecitationsTypical duration
Navchandi9 paths1 to 2 days, 5–9 pandits
Shat Chandi100 paths3 to 5 days, a larger team
Sahastra Chandi1,000 paths9 to 11 days, a large team and a yajnashala

Each anushthan concludes with a havan whose ahuti count matches the recitations, then purnahuti, kanya pujan and bhandara.

Why families undertake a Chandi anushthan

  • Persistent obstruction — long-running litigation, business loss or family trouble that has not shifted
  • Serious illness — alongside medical treatment, as a family sankalp
  • Grah dosha and shatru badha — where an astrologer has advised a Devi anushthan
  • A major vow — on the completion of a temple, a new venture, or a family milestone
  • Kul devi aradhana — families whose kul devi is a form of Chandi or Durga

What’s included

  • Sankalp, Ganesh puja, kalash sthapana and Punyahavachan
  • Devi sthapana with full shringar
  • A team of pandits reciting the Saptashati to the agreed count, with Argala, Keelak and Kavach
  • Navarna mantra japa and Chandi havan with proportionate ahutis

  • All samagri, havan kund and yajnashala setup as the scale requires

How booking works

  1. Tell us the difficulty or the sankalp, your locality, and any guidance your astrologer has given.
  2. We recommend a scale — Navchandi, Shat Chandi or Sahastra Chandi — and confirm the team size, dates and an all-inclusive price.
  3. The team performs the anushthan over the agreed days, with the family present for the sankalp and purnahuti.
  4. The anushthan closes with havan, Kanya Pujan and bhandara.

These are large arrangements. Please enquire 3 to 4 weeks ahead, and earlier for Navratri.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Chandi Path and Durga Saptashati Path?

They are the same scripture. A Durga Saptashati Path is normally one complete recitation of about 3 to 4 hours. A Chandi anushthan is that same text recited many times by a team — 9 for Navchandi, 100 for Shat Chandi, 1,000 for Sahastra Chandi.

Which scale should we choose?

Most families begin with a Navchandi. Shat Chandi and Sahastra Chandi are undertaken for grave or long-standing matters, often on an astrologer’s advice. Tell us the situation and we will recommend honestly.

Can it be held at a farmhouse or temple?

Yes, and for the larger anushthans that is usually better, since a yajnashala and space for the team and guests are needed.

How far ahead should we book?

Three to four weeks for a Navchandi, and longer for Shat Chandi or Sahastra Chandi, or for any date during Navratri.

Which areas do you cover?

All of Delhi NCR — Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
