What is Akhand Ramayan Path?

An Akhand Ramayan Path is an unbroken recitation of the whole Ramcharitmanas — all seven kands — from start to finish without a pause. Because the reading must never stop, a team of pandits recites in relay. A standard akhand path takes 24 hours; a slower, more elaborate path can run 36 to 48 hours. Families who want something shorter often choose a navahn parayan (spread over nine days) or a single-chapter path such as Sunderkand.

Why families hold a Ramayan Path

  • Griha Pravesh and new beginnings — to sanctify a new home or business
  • A vow fulfilled — a sankalp taken in a difficult time and completed in thanksgiving
  • Peace in the family — to settle discord or recurring trouble in the household
  • In memory of elders — on a barsi or during Pitru Paksha
  • Ram Navami and Vivah Panchami — the most auspicious occasions for it

What’s included

  • Sankalp, Ganesh puja and kalash sthapana
  • A team of pandits reciting in relay so the path never breaks
  • Akhand jyot (continuous lamp) setup and upkeep guidance
  • Ramcharitmanas volumes, chowki, cloth and all puja samagri
  • Havan and purnahuti at the close of the path
  • Aarti, and guidance on bhog and bhandara for guests

Formats we arrange

  • Akhand Ramayan Path — 24 hours continuous, relay of pandits
  • Ramcharitmanas Navahn Parayan — the full text across nine days
  • Sundar path / single kand — see our Sunderkand Path page
  • Ram Charit Manas with Ram Katha — recitation with a vyakhyan by the pandit

What an Akhand Ramayan Path mandali does

An akhand path cannot be read by one person — the recitation must not stop for 24 hours, so it takes a mandali, a team of pandits who recite in relay and hand over mid-verse without a break.

Ours is usually four to six acharyas, and the mandali handles the whole event, not just the reading:

  • Relay recitation, rostered so the path never pauses through the night
  • Setting and tending the akhand jyot for the full duration
  • The chowki, cloth, Ramcharitmanas volumes and the complete samagri
  • The closing havan, purnahuti and aarti at the same hour the next day
  • Guidance on bhog and bhandara timing so guests are fed around the path

If a 24-hour path is more than you need, the same mandali can perform a navahn parayan over nine days, or a single-kand path such as Sunderkand.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an Akhand Ramayan Path take?

A standard akhand path runs 24 hours without a break. More elaborate paths take 36 to 48 hours. A navahn parayan spreads the same text over nine days.

How many pandits are needed?

Usually four to six, reciting in relay, so the recitation never stops. The number depends on the format and the pace you want.

Do you provide an Akhand Ramayan Path mandali?

Yes. We send a complete mandali — typically four to six acharyas who recite in relay through the night, along with the akhand jyot, the Ramcharitmanas volumes, the chowki and all samagri. We arrange mandalis across Delhi NCR for homes, society halls and temples.

Can the path be held in a society hall or temple?

Yes. Many families hold the akhand path in a society community hall or a local temple when the house is too small to keep a room undisturbed for 24 hours. Tell us the venue and we will plan the setup around it.

Can the family sit through the whole path?

There is no obligation to. Families usually take turns sitting with the path, and gather for the beginning, the havan and the closing aarti.

What does the family need to arrange?

A clean room that can stay undisturbed for the full duration, seating for guests, and the bhog or bhandara. We bring the volumes, chowki, jyot and samagri.

Which areas do you cover?

All of Delhi NCR — Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
