Written by the Vandanam editorial team, with inputs from our panel of verified Vedic pandits. Last updated September 2026. These are general shubh dates from the standard panchang — the final date and time must be matched to the bride’s and groom’s kundlis by your pandit or astrologer.
The 2026 wedding season reopens in late November. Marriages are traditionally not performed during Chaturmas, which ends with Dev Uthani (Prabodhini) Ekadashi; after that, the shubh vivah muhurats return. For couples planning a wedding in the rest of 2026, the available dates are in the last week of November and in December.

Plan early: with only nine dates in the rest of the year, banquet halls, pandits, caterers and decorators in Delhi NCR book out months ahead for the 21, 25 and 26 November dates in particular.
How a vivah muhurat is chosen
- Guna milan and kundli matching of the bride and groom come first.
- Nakshatra — Rohini, Mrigashira, Magha, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Mula, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati are traditionally favoured.
- Lagna at the time of the pheras, and the strength of Jupiter and Venus (both must be visible, not combust).
- Avoid Chaturmas, Kharmas (roughly mid-December to mid-January), Holashtak, and the family’s shraddh period.
This is why a general date list is only a starting point — your pandit narrows it to the one or two dates that suit both kundlis.
Pre-wedding pujas to plan around the date
- Roka / Sagai — engagement ceremony, often with a small Ganesh puja.
- Ganesh Puja and Mandap sthapana — a day or two before the wedding.
- Haldi and Mehendi — usually no muhurat needed, but many families align them.
- Griha Shanti / Navgraha Puja — for families where the kundli shows a dosha.
- Tilak and Mata ki Chowki in some North Indian families.
Frequently asked questions
When do wedding muhurats start again in 2026?
After Dev Uthani Ekadashi in late November. The first shubh vivah date in the list above is 21 November 2026.
Are there wedding dates in January 2027?
Kharmas usually runs from mid-December to mid-January, when weddings are avoided. Dates resume after Makar Sankranti; ask your pandit for the 2027 list.
Can we marry on a date that is not in the list?
Some families do, for practical reasons, and perform a remedial puja. Discuss it with your pandit, who can suggest the best available time on your preferred day.
How far ahead should we book a pandit for the wedding?
For the November–December 2026 dates, book at least 4–6 weeks ahead; the most popular dates fill up first.
